* it may still happen, you really just have to prompt this away if it happens || less frequent now
* same goes for weird behaviour. i start a new chat when it goes off the rails
* **if it is your bot:** ask OOC what is causing this aggression, then change traits accordingly (!! you must start a new chat if you change bot's card, changes do not apply otherwise)

LOOPING/ POV STEAL / REPEATING PHRASES/ GENERAL WEIRDNESS TIPS
so... _you tried lowering your temperature to 0.4_, didn't work, now you're stuck. sad, but true. r1 is annoying. happens to the best of us. here's some possible tips that could help get your sanity back.
**FIRST AND FOREMOST: keep your context window small, maximum 16k.** why?
with a big context window, R1 has too much to consider and it will glaze over your custom prompt. Here is a beautiful schema made by grinch

for this, you MUST either generate a roleplay summary in Chat Memory (with Auto Summary) OR [keep track of events by using a Chat Memory template like this](/masterlist/prompts-and-troubleshooting/general-advice#chat-memory)
. After you've done that, follow this.
**Steps, in order:**
1. **Lower** context size to **~ 300**. Yes, you've heard right. This is to check for this:
The perma token count is **3598\. The formula is:** Limited Prompt + Persona Details(UserAppearance) + Char Personality + Chat Memory + Scenario + Custom Prompt = **x tokens. We can also see my last message was 404 tokens.**
Phew, okay. So what does this all mean? _**It means Deepseek has a lot to think about and it's glazing over your Custom Prompt**_. It's okay, we'll give it a break.
1. **Up your context to the last few tokens.** In this case, I would increase it to ~ **4000 tokens.**
2. **Hard Delete your message.** Copy it, delete it and send it again for a reset. _you can always raise back context when the issue is fixed, and keep it at_ _**6k-10k**__._
_stop the yapping_
1. **LOWER** temp to 0.4. **(OpenRouter only. Official API DOES NOT support temp on Janitor.)**
3. **ALTERNATE OPTION:** add `Keep replies to a MAXIMUM of 4 paragraphs.` in **Chat Memory**.

**you may have ended your reply with TOO much focus on yourself, and r1 is trying to continue YOUR message. Write some more!**
**e.g1** The scene seems to have ended, and the last sentence of your reply is this:
_{{user}} sighed, hanging up the phone, eyes scanning the room for anything that would remind them of {{char}}. "Damn, I'm such an idiot. I made everything about myself."_
_R1 will try to continue off you._ **Make it so it involves {{char}} a little more actively.**

R1 has nothing to work with. :(

5. Let me check if I'm covering all elements...

* thinking output(because of CoT= _Chain of Thinking,_ **aka: "Okay, let me think about this..."**)

* stricter adherence to API— you need to be specific about exactly WHAT and HOW you want it to act.
