For example, when we release new updates to the app, we use this data to monitor any crashes that may occur so we can fix them before they impact anyone else. For advertising, we work with external companies that show their ads in Duolingo. Duolingo does not choose the ads you see in the app. These ads are chosen by third-party companies (like Google, Unity, and Facebook). You can see and control the type of information these advertising companies have access to by visiting their data privacy controls. These ads are vital for supporting Duolingo’s mission of providing free education to everyone. We don’t sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use the microphone permissions on your mobile device for anything other than speaking exercises in our courses. If it seems like you’re seeing ads in Duolingo for products or things you’ve searched for, that’s because our third-party ad serving partners like Google and Facebook collect this type of information about you outside of Duolingo. Share the cloze test (that is, the version with blanks) with three friends or colleagues - make sure to use people who are _not_ taking this content design course. This can be done in person or remotely. Remember, you should _not_ share the complete version of the content with your test subjects. **For remote tests:** * Schedule a video call with your participant to run the test. * Share the content in a Google document so that participants can fill it in online during the call. **For in-person tests:** * Have the participant complete a printed copy in your presence, then collect their completed version. 1. Assess each participant’s responses and score the content’s readability. 2. Put the participants’ responses and scores into a single document. • If conducting the test in person, add photos of each completed passage. • If conducting the test remotely, copy and paste the completed passage. 3. Add up the scores for your participants, and then explain what the final score means in terms of the content’s readability. These could be social media platforms, discussion forums, personal blogs, or review websites. 3. **Analyse the conversations and reviews** Review the conversations to understand what your target customer thinks and feels about the product or service. Take screenshots to capture your observations. 4. **Document your findings in Miro** • Organise your findings into four categories: - Goals - Pain points - Preferences (what customers like about existing products or services) - Language used (terminology) • For each category, include at least three examples, using a screenshot or a quote from the relevant conversation. • Add a post-it note to each example to label the observation or insight you’ve captured. #### [](https://docs.uxdesigninstitute.com/content-design-student-handbook-april-2024/iRLW0LrAhv89TIduGyf6/student-handbook/projects/project-2-conversation-mining#company-description) _Company description_ _PawsAbode (fictional company) is a dedicated platform that connects dog owners with reliable dog minders who provide personalised care for furry friends. You can find them in our Software Tutorials module on the "My Modules" page. * While documenting your findings in Miro, organise your notes logically. For example: * First, write the name of the website or app and put its link. * Then use post-its and screenshots to highlight where the content does or doesn't align with a principle. Write the principle in a heading above your explanation. * It can be helpful to colour code your post-its (green and red) in terms of whether the content does or does not align with the principle. Always use a key for any colour coding or symbols used. * Please note where you found this content by using labels such as the “about us” page, or “last step of the booking process”. * Avoid making design suggestions. Focus on capturing the content's alignment with the principles. You'll access designs within Figma and identify where copy needs improvement, and then make the necessary changes. You'll also be asked to explain the reason behind each change you make.
