Of 30 different rhyme types the **Intelligent Rhyme** is the most suitable choice for new users. It allows you to benefit from Rhyme Genie's most powerful features while enabling you to enjoy a variety of near rhymes without requiring further study.

You can limit or expand your search results by choosing a desired **rhyming dictionary**. Click on the arrows to the right of the search field and select one of the options.

The **Songwriter Dictionary** was compiled from more than 100 million words in over 600,000 song lyrics. It will allow you to focus only on words typically used in lyrics, phrases that feature these words and all titles of charted songs.

Go to the **settings screen** to (de-)select the option to have only rhyme mates displayed that are commonly found at the end of song verses.

The **Basic Dictionary** features approximately 16,000 of the most commonly used words in the English language.

The **Standard Dictionary** has close to 46,000 common words. This dictionary is very useful when using the intelligent rhyme or when searching for near rhymes. It will keep rhyme matches from ballooning into large lists while giving you inspiring rhyme options.

If the search word offers **more than one pronunciation** (e.g. live, tear, read etc.) or has **gliding vowel sounds** that can either be pronounced as one or two syllables (e.g. fire, wired, cruel), a number in the far right of the search box will indicate the selected pronunciation. Switch to a different pronunciation by tapping/clicking on the number.

While it is possible to use phrases in the search field, Rhyme Genie will only find results if the identical phrase exists in its reference entries as well. It is therefore preferable to use **single words** instead of long phrases.

# Phonetic Repetitions | Rhyme Genie - User Guide

The intelligent rhyme distinguishes between **rhymes** and **phonetic repetitions**. A rhyme is classified as a pair of words in which the accented vowels and all succeeding sounds are identical while the sounds preceding the accented vowels differ. Phonetic repetitions occur when the sounds preceding the accented vowels are also identical.

You can view phonetic repetitions by tapping/clicking on the ‘=’ button to **increase** the **similarity in sound** until you have reached the **highest degree**. Since phonetic repetitions produce less audible friction, which leads to a weaker resolve, they are excluded from the initial search results.

# Multi-Syllabic Button | Rhyme Genie - User Guide

When the multi-syllabic option is on, the button will illuminate and the intelligent rhyme will display rhyme mates that **match two or more syllables** whenever possible. **Polysyllabic** rhyme mates are indicated by a **green**\-colored multi-syllabic button. If the search word offers only **monosyllabic** rhyme mates, the multi-syllabic button will turn **red**.

The symbol in the center of the multi-syllabic button will inform you whether the search word is **feminine** or **masculine**. The gender classification depends on how the syllables of the search word are stressed. Masculine words have the stress on the last syllable. Feminine words have the stress on the second to last syllable or prior.

Since rhymes share the same stress pattern only feminine words will have polysyllabic rhyme mates. Tap/click on the multi-syllabic button to switch it off whenever you wish to rhyme only the last syllable of a **feminine** search word. The multi-syllabic button will turn gray.

In addition to identifying the search word's gender Rhyme Genie also distinguishes between **primary** and **secondary stress** in words. The similarity in sound option lights up whenever the intelligent rhyme is chosen from the rhyme type menu. It allows you to **influence the closeness of a rhyme** by tapping/clicking on the '≈' and '=' buttons. The gap in the circular line around the center button indicates the degree of similarity in sound.

The **wordfilter** allows you to omit entries that do not belong to the selected part of speech. It offers over 130,000 **parts of speech** consisting of roughly 84,000 **nouns**, 18,000 **adjectives**, 23,000 **verbs** and 5,000 **adverbs**. The current selection is indicated by its abbreviation in the filter’s display.

The integrated Webster's dictionary has over **115,000 entries**. Rhyme mates that are defined in the dictionary are **highlighted in blue**.

Keyboard shortcuts allow you to change the **zoom** **level** to accommodate a variety of screen sizes and improve readability. To **zoom in** use 'F3' on Windows and Command ⌘ '+' on macOS; to **zoom** **out** use Shift 'F3' on Windows and Command ⌘ '-' on macOS.

The NIC address is a unique code embedded into your network device at the time of manufacture. It consists of a six-byte code that has more than 281 trillion possible variations. Traditionally only used for network interface cards, today's computers generally have several NIC addresses to help to identify many other parts of your system, including your Ethernet card, Bluetooth address, SCSI address, etc.

Soundex is a **phonetic algorithm** that converts English words into groups of character strings based upon their pronunciation.

**Legacy Windows and Mac version:**

An old **unused serial number** that was purchased for the activation of Rhyme Genie 1-4 remains valid for one (1) activation on any computer.

Furthermore, if Rhyme Genie 1-4 is currently running on a particular computer fully unlocked you may also request a new activation code for Rhyme Genie 5 or higher free of charge.

Simply execute a new license request with your old serial number. Once we have verified your eligibility we will issue one (1) new activation code that will allow you to run Rhyme Genie 5 or higher on the same computer.

If your current activation code does not work anymore and you do not have an unused old serial number, please take advantage of our offer to purchase a new serial number for $7.95. Unlike the old serial number a newly purchased serial number will allow you to request up to three (3) activation codes to run the program on different devices.

A serial number issued for the Windows or Mac version of Rhyme Genie 5 or higher allows you to get up to **three activation codes** to run the program on different computers. Please note that an activation code is linked to a specific computer. Since we are unable to verify if a computer has been stolen or is no longer in working condition we cannot accommodate requests to transfer licenses.

Should you desire to activate Rhyme Genie on more than three computers please take advantage of our offer to purchase additional serial numbers for $7.95 each. With a newly purchased serial number you will be able to request three more activation codes.

The iOS version of Rhyme Genie is a separate purchase **exclusively available on** [Apple’s App Storearrow-up-right](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/keynote/id1088170276?mt=8)
. As a universal app it is compatible with a number of iPads, iPhones and iPods while offering all the features of the desktop version.

Purchases are validated by Apple and do not require an activation code. You may run the app on all **compatible iOS devices** linked to your Apple ID.

Apple adds a purchase receipt when you download and install the app. Rhyme Genie may ask you to sign in with your Apple ID if the purchase receipt is not found.

Sign in to automatically retrieve the missing receipt from the App Store and wait for the app to resume its launch procedure. If Rhyme Genie remains unresponsive for more than 10 seconds you may:

*   Rhyme Genie will automatically be suspended by iOS when it is not running in the foreground. iOS may purge a suspended app to make more memory available for the foreground app. Rhyme Genie may perform a brief ‘consistency check’ upon re-launch to clean up free blocks and ensure the file remains compact. This is a maintenance precaution and should not be cause for concern.

The user interface has been completely re-designed:

Rhyme Genie now offers a cleaner and more intuitive interface that scales beautifully on a wide variety of platforms. The search field as well as all buttons and menus have been moved to the bottom half of the screen to provide a clutter-free presentation of the rhyme mates in the top half of the screen. A better integrated thesaurus can be expanded to show more synonyms by completely hiding the dictionary section. The book icon to the right of the search field allows for quick navigation between the dictionary & thesaurus and the rhyming dictionary. An expandable clipboard affords a greater overview of recently copied rhyme mates while the search field has lost its case sensitivity to make finding rhymes easier than ever.

# License Requests (Mac/Windows) | Rhyme Genie - User Guide

You can unlock all of Rhyme Genie’s power for your particular computer device at any time by going to the activation screen, completing the registration information in section 1 and sending a license request via the internet in section 2.

Use the serial number that was issued electronically after your purchase of the downloadable version of Rhyme Genie.

After a successful license request you will receive the activation code via email **within a minute or two**. Go to section 3 of the activation screen and follow the activation procedure described in the email.

The activation code will never expire and you can use it to activate all subsequent updates of Rhyme Genie if they are installed on the same computer device.

One **(1) serial number** issued for Rhyme Genie 5 (or higher) allows you to get up to three **(3) activation codes** to run the program on different computers with unlimited free updates for the life of a computer.

Register **TuneSmith** on as many computers as desired free of charge with the same **serial number** issued for the **Windows or Mac version of Rhyme Genie.**

If you have misplaced your activation code simply execute an additional license request on your **existing computer** to receive a **copy** of the **previously issued** code.

A unique thesaurus with syllable-matching synonyms has been added:

Whenever you see a plus sign inside the magnifying glass you can access a new thesaurus with over 420,000 synonyms. Clicking on the plus sign will reveal a list of words that are not only related to the search word but also share the same number of syllables. Click on any entry from the list to replace the current search word or hide the list again by clicking on Rhyme Genie's background.

You can now see more synonyms at a glance with a refined thesaurus that groups synonyms of equal word length. Support for heteronyms has been added:

Heteronyms are words that have the same spelling but different meaning and pronunciation (e.g. "live for the day" and "live action" or "tear apart" and "tear drop"). A word that is recognized by the rhyming dictionary as a heteronym will display a number in the far right of the search box to indicate the current pronunciation selection. Clicking on the number will change the phonetic interpretation of the search word and show rhyme mates that match the new pronunciation.

Empty rhyme mate lists have been eliminated by optimizing the intelligent rhyme algorithm and redesigning the multi-syllabic function:

When the multi-syllabic option is off, its button will be gray and the intelligent rhyme will display final syllable rhymes and corresponding near rhymes that match in their last syllable. When the multi-syllabic option is on, the button will illuminate and the intelligent rhyme will display rhyme mates that match two or more syllables whenever possible. A green light indicates that the displayed rhyme mates are indeed multi-syllabic perfect rhymes or corresponding near rhymes. A red light signifies that the search word does not rhyme with any other multi-syllabic word. In this case the rhyme mates will be either monosyllabic perfect rhymes or final syllable rhymes and their corresponding near rhymes, depending on the accent of the search word.

The handling of proper nouns has been improved:

You can now find rhyme mates for most proper nouns without capitalizing the search word. The exception is entries that have capitalized letters in any other position than the first, like acronyms (AOL), certain phrases (non-American) and certain last names (McDonald). This new feature is achieved through a character substitution formula that only examines the first letter of any given entry to preserve Rhyme Genie's speed.

A number of bugs have been fixed:

Words that are exported with the rhyming dictionary's clipboard can now be pasted into the program of your choice either in the order they were entered or in the order they are displayed in Rhyme Genie's main window.

A glitch that produced incorrect rhyme mates for a number of words has been fixed. The glitch occurred during the initial look up of the search word and therefore affected all rhyme types. A few examples of the type of words that were affected by the bug are raw, saw, flow, laws, law, bow, how, etc.

A rare interface bug that displays the feminine or masculine symbol in every word field has been fixed. The issue could occur when moving the mouse over the similarity in sound bar while simultaneously clicking on the mouse button.

A decoding error that prevented the proper validation of certain serial numbers has been fixed.

Whenever the search word started with a vowel the rhyming dictionary could show entries that would by definition be repetitions instead of rhymes (e.g. a perfect rhyme search for 'all' would return 'after all, all in all, above all'). This issue has now been fixed.

Rhyme Genie 5 can be run from any external hard drive or flash drive. The new activation code continues to work even after the main hard drive of the computer has been changed. All serial numbers issued prior to Rhyme Genie 5 remain valid. Previously issued activation codes can be upgraded free of charge provided they are still valid on your particular computer system. If a previously issued activation code is not valid anymore, please take advantage of our offer to purchase a new serial number for $7.95. iPhone and iPad users can now run Rhyme Genie on their mobile devices:

The iOS version of Rhyme Genie is an exact clone of the desktop version, albeit without the demo mode. To achieve comparable performance you will have to run Rhyme Genie on an iPhone 5, an iPad 4 or an iPad Mini. Rhyme Genie will run on older models at slower speeds. However, earlier iPhone models are not recommended since Rhyme Genie's graphic interface has been optimized for the larger screen size of the iPhone 5.

Rhyme Genie's interface has been refined:

The graphic user interface has been updated to take advantage of Apple's new high resolution Retina Display and allows improved rendering on Windows PCs.

Lists of rhyme mates are now scrollable when you simply hover over the desired rhyme portal and slide your fingers over the computer's trackpad. The existing slider has been updated to indicate the length of each rhyme mate list in addition to showing your current position.

Rhyme mates can be displayed in a variety of font types and sizes. A redesigned minimized window allows for precise control of the number of syllables displayed in its rhyme portal while the tab key can now be used to quickly jump into the search field to look up words.
